About Us
West Forest Potters was founded in 1983 and today has about 60 members, who are either potters (both professional and amateur), or people just interested in ceramics.
We meet about 6 times a year on the second Wednesday of the month at Polehampton Junior School in Twyford from 7.45 to 10pm, when we invite a well-known potter to come and demonstrate. Admission to these meetings is free for members and £3.00 for visitors.
Twice a year we have a 'Potter's Day'. This is always held on a Saturday from 10am to 4pm, usually in the Knowl Hill Village Hall (on the A4 between Twyford and Maidenhead). This is an extended opportunity to meet a well renowned potter who is invited to talk about his/her work, show slides and demonstrate. Admission is £15.00 for members and £20.00 for visitors and includes a buffet lunch, tea or coffee and a raffle of one of the artist's works.
In June, we hold our annual exhibition in the Henley Exhibition Centre. All members are invited to take part in this event, although usually only about 20 exhibit their work.
Annual membership subscriptions are due on 1st October and are currently £15.00 for single members, £25.00 for couples and £12.50 for students. Subscriptions are reduced pro rata for new members joining during the year. We issue a newsletter (in colour) to members three times a year with full details about our meetings. We also have a small library of ceramics-related publications which is available to members.
If you would like to join us for one our meetings, please contact us.
