West Forest Potters

We are like minded people who share a fascination for working with clay.

About

The aims of West Forest Potters are to provide a forum and organise meetings and events for members to meet and discuss pottery and the ceramic arts, learn from other potters and ceramic artists and exhibit and sell their work.

West Forest Potters is an East Berkshire Pottery Guild that was founded in 1983 and today has about 60 members, who are either potters (both professional and amateur) or people just interested in ceramics.

We meet between selected dates on the second Wednesday of the month at Polehampton Junior School in Twyford, Berkshire from 7.45 to 9:45 pm, when we invite a well-known potter to come and demonstrate. These gatherings are an opportunity to meet like minded people, find inspiration and see potters in action within an informal, friendly setting. (Excluding summer and winter breaks)

We also hold a raffle of one of the artist’s works

Admission to these meetings is free for members and £8.00 for visitors.

Once a year we have a ‘Potter’s Day’. This is always held on a Saturday from 10am to 4pm, usually in the Knowl Hill Village Hall (on the A4 between Twyford and Maidenhead). This is an extended opportunity to meet a well renowned potter who is invited to talk about his/her work, show slides and demonstrate.  This day is always a popular, exciting and entertaining event and is one of the highlights of our year. Admission is £25.00 for members and £30.00 for visitors and includes a buffet lunch with juices, tea or coffee.

In May we hold our Annual Exhibition as part of the Henley Arts Trail in May. This is a great opportunity to exhibit and sell our work as well as meet other members.
